Scripture: “Then they sat on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights. No one said a word to him, because they saw how great his suffering was.”
—Job 2:13 (NIV)

Reflection
There comes a point in suffering where words no longer help. In the story of Job, after all his loss and pain, his friends came and simply sat with him. For seven days, they said nothing. They just were there.
Sometimes presence speaks louder than sermons.
To the one reflecting on life, you may feel like you have little to offer now. But know this—your presence still matters. Simply being here, still holding on to faith, is a testimony in itself. You don’t have to say anything profound. Just being with the people you love may be more powerful than you know.
To the ones standing close beside you, it’s okay if you don’t have the perfect words. Silence can be sacred. The gift you give by simply showing up—sitting, holding a hand, offering gentle care—is a reflection of God’s own presence. You are not expected to fix the moment. You are simply asked to be faithful in it.
For the Journey
Remember:
You don’t need to speak to bring comfort.
Presence can be a form of prayer.
God often shows up through people who simply stay.
Prayer
God of comfort, help us to value stillness in a noisy world. Teach us that presence is powerful—that sometimes, sitting quietly in love is more than enough. For the one whose voice is fading, let them know they are not forgotten. For those at their side, give peace in the silence. Fill every quiet moment with Your nearness. Amen.

Well said.
