Scripture: “Jesus wept.”
—John 11:35 (NIV)

Reflection
These two words are the shortest verse in the Bible—but they may be among the most comforting.
Jesus knew He would raise Lazarus from the dead. He knew the miracle was coming. But when He saw Mary and the others weeping, He didn’t skip ahead to the celebration. He stopped and wept with them.
This tells us something deeply personal about God: He doesn’t just walk beside us in power—He walks beside us in grief.
For those reflecting on life, God sees you not from a distance, but up close. He knows what you’re feeling. He understands fear, sorrow, and even frustration. And He does not ask you to be strong for Him—He offers to be strong for you.
To those standing close, you’re not expected to hold it all together. If Jesus could weep, then you are certainly allowed to cry too. Grief is not weakness. It’s an act of love. And God meets you in it.
Jesus wept… and then He acted. He brought life where there had been death. And He still does.
For the Journey
Remember:
• It’s okay to cry. Even Jesus did.
• God is not distant in your sadness; He is present and tender.
• Mourning and miracles can exist in the same moment.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for being the kind of God who weeps with us. You don’t rush our pain or shame our sorrow. You enter into it and stay beside us. For the one facing the end, let them feel Your nearness. For the ones holding their hand, let them know they are not alone. May Your tears mingle with ours, and may Your peace surround us all. Amen.
